There have been several versions of the pneumonia vaccine in the last 20 years. The newest vaccine and the one we offer in our office is Prevnar 20. Previously, the CDC recommended a single Prevnar 20 vaccine for all adults over the age of 65, and adults under the age of 65 with high-risk conditions. The new guidelines recommend a single Prevnar 20 vaccine for all adults age 50 and over. The vaccine has been shown to decrease hospitalization, sepsis, and death from pneumonia. If you are over the age 50+ and have not had your Prevnar 20 vaccine, you can contact our office to have this done, or you can get the vaccine at your local pharmacy. For more information, click here.
